New shipping containers are often to referred to as ‘one trip’ shipping containers because that is exactly what they have done – one trip from China to the UK.
Strictly speaking they are not ‘new’ but are the closest possible available in the UK. These virtually new containers have been used to import goods just once into the UK where they are emptied, customs cleared, then returned to the nearest depot. During their trip through the transport system, containers can become dented and scratched and in some cases, get punctured by fork lifts. In these rare cases, the container will be repaired to the professional standard required within the shipping industry. So, whilst the repaired container is deemed safe to continue its onward journey, it may have had a section of damaged corrugate removed and replaced by a better piece welded in to place and paint matched to the original container colour.
Now, whilst we will not sell on something you may consider unacceptable, we do have to manage expectation and make you aware that one trip shipping containers will have cosmetic flaws consistent with their initial trip from China.
All of our new shipping containers can be provided with a valid CSC plate (circa 5-years) making them suitable for export use. However, we find that the majority of the containers we sell get used in self-storage depots, used by schools and colleges as additional storage facilities for sports equipment and by Fire and Rescue services for storage of fire training equipment and even gyms for their teams to keep fit in. A good number of our new containers are also converted for specialised uses.
New shipping containers are the units we recommend if you intend to keep for a long period of time. They will come with factory fitted air vents. Should you require more vents or larger vents, we can install these for you prior to delivery.
They should be good for over 20-years given the most basic of maintenance. All you need to do to maintain your container is to clean debris from the roof, grease the locking rods and hinges and clean-up/touch-up any scratches. Compared to a used or refurbished container you should expect 10-15 years additional serviceable lifespan (as they are roughly this much younger at the point of sale) – they are also smarter and will hold a better resale value should you want to move the container on in 10+ years time. Our general advice is that these new one trip shipping containers offer the best very long term value versus used and refurbished ranges.
