Our refurbished shipping containers can be supplied in any length between 6ft and 45ft! They can come with their original cargo doors. In the case of the standard-length containers, we will take a used container, install a lock box and re-paint the exterior using a dark RAL marine paint. Dark green (RAL6007) and dark blue (RAL5013) are by far the most popular choices. When re-spraying standard container lengths, we do not mask off the locking rods or door seals. If you require this, please specify at time of ordering and note there is an additional cost for the premium re-painting service.
Custom Container Lengths
Refurbished containers can be produced in custom lengths to suit your requirements and may be fitted with the original cargo doors or a set of our new flat panel doors depending on availability. In some instances, the front-end may be the original corrugated steel or, we may install a flat sheet of steel.
Typically, refurbished containers are produced from used shipping containers however, they can be produced from new containers too.

Refurbished containers can be supplied with two different door sets and two different paint finishes as described below.
Flat Panel Doors
When a unit is supplied with flat panel doors, these are fabricated to order and come with 1 locking rod on the right-hand door only. The doors are produced using sheet steel, that’s about the same thickness as the container wall, and fitted with an angle iron frame for increased door rigidity.
The front-end (opposite end to the doors) will be fitted with a piece of flat sheet steel to close.
Whilst there is no rubber door seal on the flat panel doors, we do install a rain guard above the doors and this still offers a weatherproof, wind and watertight container, with a much easier to manage door if you have a wide range of people needing to access your storage container.
Cargo Doors
When a unit is supplied with the original cargo doors, this type of unit will be fabricated by cutting off the cargo door end of the container to the length you specify. This option leaves the original corner posts in place and to which the cargo doors are mounted. The front-end (opposite end to the doors) will be fitted with a piece of flat sheet steel to close.
This type of unit will have the original cargo door rubber seals and will not require a rain guard as is the case with the Flat Panel Doors.
Should you require a corrugated front-end instead of the flat sheet steel, please specify this when ordering.
When producing refurbished units from used shipping containers, they will have some scratches and dents consistent with their life in the shipping industry and, as such, we cannot guarantee their cosmetics.
When looking for a specific length of container, you should note that the length can vary by +/- 4’’ inches with this variation being caused by the position of the corrugate. If you need us to work to a tighter tolerance than normal, please specify this at the time of ordering and please note that our cost for a very specific length may be slightly higher than our normal price as additional labour and/or materials may be required.
Repainting
When re-painting a container, we simply spray over the original container colour. This may cause variations in the final colour. If you want to ‘paint match’ your container to existing units, we can overspray with an undercoat prior to applying the top coat. Although, variations in colour may still occur and these can be caused by variations between batches of paint and manufacturer.
We offer two paint finishes as described below:
Basic Finish
In this instance, the container will be prepped and painted. Pretty simple. There will be no masking off for neat lines unfortunately and the door gear, which includes the locking bars, handles and rubber seals (if you are having a unit with cargo doors) will be over sprayed as per image below.
Any decals present on the unit will not be removed they will also be over sprayed as per the image on the left. As you open the container doors it will be likely there is overspray and commonly runs – This is more apparent on flat doors rather than rubber sealed cargo doors. Any runs present are not because of us over applying paint, simply because the ‘heavier’ marine grade paint we use can pool in places like above the doors and its not until we open them, typically after we’ve finished painting, that they may trickle.
Put simply; the basic external repaint is meant to change the external colour of a shipping container. It is not going to win any awards for neatness.
Premium Finish
In this instance, the container will be given a light rub down to key the surfaces and ensure a better take for the new paint. The door gear, which includes the locking bars, handles and rubber seals, will be masked off prior to the unit being sprayed. This ensures a neat and tidy finish and creates contrast on the container doors as appose to it all being blown over in one colour. Giving a ‘new look’ finish as per image on the left.
Once again, as standard, any decals present on the unit will not be removed they will be painted over. However, we do appreciate if you really wanted a premium finish maybe you don’t want decals at all. If so just let us know. We have have the option to remove the decals prior to painting (we will do this on all four sides of the container) but of course this is at additional cost.
Decals
As briefly highlighted above; whilst it’s standard to overspray the decals on any shipping container, we can have these removed prior to re-spray on any paint finish (standard or premium). Please specify when this option when ordering.
Where refurbished containers have been produced by cutting down larger containers, they may or may not come with air vents. If you require air vents, please specify at time of ordering. We can fit these in depot or you can fit them yourself.
